Leafield Environmental, a UK based company are proud to have designed and manufactured the Envirobank coffee cup recycling bins used as part of Edinburgh’s first on-street recycling #InTheLoop scheme.
The Edinburgh #InTheLoop recycling scheme was launched in December 2019 as part of a five-month trial pioneered by leading environmental charity, Hubbub. The bright orange Envirobank coffee cup recycling bins were implemented during the second phase of the project in February 2020. They are situated in key locations across the city centre including Rose Street, George Street, top of Waverley Steps, Rutland Street and St Andrew Square.
The #InTheLoop recycling on-the-go scheme brings on-street recycling to the city of Edinburgh for the first time. It has been supported by many key partners including Hubbub, City of Edinburgh Council, Scotwaste, Starbucks, Café Nero, Pret a Manger, Nestle, Coca Cola and McDonalds. Changeworks is the local delivery partner for the project providing on-the-ground support, logistics and evaluation of the project.
Leafield launched the Envirobank coffee cup recycling bin as part of Hubbub’s #LeedsByExample coffee cup recycling campaign in 2018. Its distinctive ‘bright orange smiley face’ was designed for quick identification in high footfall areas. Bespoke labelling and graphics were used on the cup bins for the ‘InTheLoop’ campaign.

That’s why we launched the Envirobank Cup Bin, a unique ‘bright orange smiley face’ bin for people to recycle used coffee cups easily on-the-go. It was designed and manufactured by our in-house team in Wiltshire and launched with Hubbub as part of their #LeedsByExample coffee cup recycling campaign. Following its success, we are delighted that more cities like Edinburgh are using our distinctive cup bins to increase coffee cup recycling.”
The Envirobank Cup bin features a 240-litre wheelie bin and coffee cups are collected through its double hole aperture. The enhanced double wall structure has been designed for ultimate rigidly and durability. Bespoke colour and personalisation are available upon request.
